There's a war going on in gamer world, this time its a war between the new developer of the halo franchise and the community of players that play it. The subject CSR  , (Competitive Skill Rank). In short , everyone starts as level 1 , and everyone levels up due their true skill , and the best hit level 50.

Let me introduce myself, I am old

I was on the test run of xbox live, all we had online was Moto Gp , Ghost Recon and Whacked. (As I remember it).

I remember the night Halo 2 came out , here in the UK we didnt get it for 2 days after the USA , so all we had were the forums, on that first night the forums were a wash with people moaning and complaining about how bad Halo 2 was.

Fast forward to Halo 4 , and the same cycle continues, the Halo forums are full of complaints for the game , many stating how they wish it was like Halo 2.

Let me put my cards on the table, for me Halo 4 is the best yet , for online fun it is amazing , Halo 2 was amazing , Halo 4 for me is one step up.

Back to CSR , 343i state that the skill ranking won't be shown in game so that gamers won't boost or cheat there way to a higher level. As a very average gamer I say this, it must be shown in game, if not shown in game don't bother with it. If people want to cheat to a level 50 , let them, there is no monetary value in being a level 50, once they get there , they will get over matched and get destroyed, serves them right. I expect to hit level 20 at highest , anything above that and I am sure games will get very uncomfortable and not much fun for me.

As an average player , I want to see CSR in game , pre game ,  to see what I am about to go up against, to only show it on halowaypoint is pointless.

May be they are holding it back for Halo 5 ? maybe not.

Give the gamers , noncompetitive an competitive what they want , if not , don't bother at all.

Halo
